Down Festival of Flight 2011

After the great success of last years event Down County Council will be hosting another Festival of Flight this year on Sat/Sun 6/7 August 2011, again featuring the spectacular Red Arrows. Having watched last years display from the slopes of Slieve Commedagh I can heartily recommend getting up high to enjoy the show. The 2010 display was performed over the sea off Newcastle Strand Beach and was an awesome sight from high up and when the show culminated in a plane peeling off and flying between Slieve Donard and Slieve Donard we felt like we were close enough to reach out and touch the pilot.

This year the Red Arrows display will begin at 130pm on Saturday and the weekend will also feature live music headlined by The Feeling and plenty for old and young celebrating flight in Northern Ireland including kite flying, exhibits, dancing and quizzes.
